What's in the Works?

Working hand in hand with our residents and community stakeholders, and catalyzed by a $30m grant award from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the City of Winston-Salem (City) and the Housing Authority of Winston-Salem (HAWS) have embarked upon a 6-year journey to revitalize and transform the Northeast community of Winston-Salem. In order to facilitate the overall $750m Choice Neighborhood Initiative Project, HAWS has retained the services of McCormack Baron Salazar and Urban Strategies, Inc to assist in the implementation of this ambitious community-wide transformation effort. Our residents, community stakeholders, the City and HAWS have committed to pursue the revitalization of the Cleveland Avenue neighborhood in a manner that honors and builds upon the strengths and integrity of the existing community so that a brighter, more vibrant future can be fully realized.
